What does the San Patricio County Office of Emergency Management do?

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) works year-round to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and help mitigate disasters and emergencies that may impact San Patricio County. Who is in charge during an emergency?

Local elected officials, such as the County Judge and Mayors, serve as the chief emergency management authorities for their jurisdictions. The Office of Emergency Management coordinates response efforts and supports these officials during emergencies. 

Does the county issue evacuation orders?

Yes. Evacuation orders may be issued when there is a significant threat to life safety, such as during hurricanes or flooding. Residents should follow evacuation orders promptly and use designated routes when provided.
